Transmission Charge Calculation of Power System

Bikram Singh Chetri

Abstract

In traditional power system, industry vertically integrated system (VIS) exists. But now days the vertical utility is being converted into horizontal integrated utility. This is the deregulation of power system. This system is divided into three parts: Transmission, generation and distribution. The revenue of the generation comes from the selling the power to the transmission and distribution. Similarly, the revenue of DISCO comes from commercial, industrials and domestic consumers. But in case of TRANSCO, due to non-uniformity in the sharing of power between different tariffs, is a real problem. The principle objectives of a utility are to deliver the power to the consumer satisfactorily and in a manner most economical to the company from the transmission and distribution point of view. The transport grid is seen as a natural monopoly, and thus the transmission tariffs should be regulated. Thus in my work, I have studied two basic transmission pricings, namely: Postage stamp method and MW-mile method.
