Multi Response Optimization of Process Parameters of Abrasive Flow Machining for Brass by GRA Based Analysis

Abstract


The abrasive flow machining (AFM) is a recent manufacturing technique that uses the flow of a pressurized abrasive media for removing work piece material. In comparison with hand polishing, AFM is assumed to be a very efficient process, suitable for finishing of vent passage and complex surfaces. Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is a fine finishing process for internal inaccessible cavities or recesses. It employs an abrasives laden semi-solid media which contains carrier and abrasive particles, which is self-deforming and can finish the complex cavities under a hydraulic pressure. This method has a unique property of simultaneous improvement in material removal and surface finish. Recently, due to more advancement, several modifications in the AFM have been tried to improve its performance. In this work, effect of process parameter on MRR and surface roughness for brass work piece by GRA based analysis have been studied.
