Simulation Based Performance Analysis of Wired Computer Networks

Rahul Malhotra, Vaibhav Nijhawan

Abstract

Simulation is the process of accessing the real-world scenario in a virtual way. The purpose of simulation modeling is to ease the understanding of real working situations, to surge its behavior and its reactions during particular events. It is the application of computational models to the study and prediction of physical events or the behavior of engineered systems. Selection of a particular network simulator involves factors like availability of simulator, its relative ease of use, network modeling flexibility, code reusability factor, hardware and software requirements, output reports and graphical plots. In this paper, performance analysis of wired networks has been done under variable data packet size from 500 bits, 1000 bits to 1500 bits.
