Every researcher needs to understand and distinguish the concepts of grounded theory and the grounded theory method before embarking on their study. There are six basic principles of grounded theory. There has been a divergence between how the two original authors, Glaser and Strauss, first conceptualized and operationalized the method, thus resulting in two schools of grounded theory.
