To Study the Effects of Proprioception Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Movement Pattern and Capsular Stretching in Chronic Adhesive Capsulitis to Improve the Joint ROM of Shoulder

Bharti pratim Dowarah

Abstract

Adhesive capsulitis is a clinical condition characterized by pain, progressive restriction in joint ROM due to periarticular tightness which results in loss of function of shoulder joint over the years. It is a comparative study design; a sample of 50 patients will be include in the study with the pretest and post- test  study design .random sampling is done on the basis of baseline assessment and diagnosis of their condition as per investigation. Duration of this study is 7 weeks and data will be collected at Day 0 and 3rd weeks and after those 4 weeks for follow- up. Subject will be assign in to two Groups A and Group B. Both groups will be given ultrasound in pulse mode, a doses of 0.8 watt/square cm, with pulse ratio of 1:2 for 8 min. Group A will receive PNF movement pattern whereas Group B will be receive capsular stretching. It can be seen that use of PNF movement pattern in patients with Adhesive capsulitis is more beneficial in improving the joint ROM. This can be used to enhance the functional outcome of these patients. Hence, alternate hypothesis is accepted at p = 0.00 and the null hypothesis is rejected.
