Biography

Dr. H. S. A. Yahay is a Professor in the Department of Wildlife Sciences in A. M. U. Aligarh. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Zoology (Field Ornithology) from University of Bombay in 1980 under the supervision of the Late Dr. Salim Ali; and earned his postdoctoral from university of Aberdeen Scotland. Then he worked as a Research Biologist in Bombay Natural History Society for about 3 years before joining as a lecturer in LNM University Darbhanga. He joined AMU Aligarh in 1986 and worked as lecturer, reader and professor till date. In between he also worked as Research Coordinator in National Commission of Wildlife Conservation and Development in Saudi Arabia from 1994 to 1997. He also worked as Scientific Project Advisor in ProNasi Inc, Montreal during 2008 and 2009. He is having 39 Years of Experience in the field of Wildlife ecology and conservation. His area of expertise includes: Research, Teaching, Administration and Environment Impact Assessment. He has delivered extension lectures in 18 countries including UK, Canada, USA and South Africa. He has supervised 37 M. Sc., 6 Phils and 7 Ph. Dissertations and has served as the Chairman of the Department for over two terns. He is author of 11 books (6 in English and 5 in Urdu) and over 100 papers in national and international journals and magazines. He has received several research grants and has been member of governing councils of several organizations. He is also a member of Higher Education Group of 12th Five Year Plan, Govt. of India.

Dr. Nayan Sharma is Professor in WRD&M at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Water Resources Department from University of Roorkee in 1996. He worked as a Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee for 31 Years. He is having 41 Years of Experience in the field of Water Resources. His Area of Expertise includes Water Resources, River Engineering, Hydraulic Structures and Irrigation Management. He is supervisor of 164 Masters’ and 19 Ph.D. theses and has 132 research publication. He is author / editor of three books published / under publication by Springer Publishers & INCID, recipient of several National & International Research Grants, and received Indo Swiss Bilateral Research Award as Visiting Professor in EPFL, University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He delivered lectures in The Imperial College London, Southampton University, Edinburgh University, University of Lausanne, Iowa University, IST Lisbon, Gottingen University. He delivered Dr. K. L. Rao Memorial Lecture in 26th National Convention of Civil Engineers, Institution of Engineers (India), and Engineers Conclave-2014. He researched on new Piano Key Weir technology for dam safety & in-stream storage as adaptation measure for climate change.

Dr. Nilanchal Patel is a Professor in the Department of Remote Sensing at the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi, India. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Remote Sensing from IIT Kanpur in 1992. Then he worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi for four years. He is having 28 Years of Experience in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS. His Area of Expertise includes: Environmental Remote Sensing and GIS, Urbanization, Traffic Congestion and Road Network Analysis, Land Degradation, Desertification, Natural Hazards, Agronomy, Climate Change and Glacier and Snow Dynamics, Landuse and Landcover Change, Pattern Recognition and Image Processing etc. He is the author of 60 research papers in international journals and conferences and recipient of several awards.

Dr. SM. Sundarapandian is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology & Environmental Sciences, School of Life sciences at the Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India He received his Ph.D. degree in Forest ecology in Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 1998 and Post doctorate in the same University for two years. He worked as a Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany Saraswathi Narayanan college from December 2000 to April 2009 and Assistant professor in Pondicherry University from April 2009 to till date. He has 14 years teaching experience and 21 years research experience. His area expertise includes: Forest Biodiversity & conservation, Traditional conservation systems (Sacred groves), Population dynamics of tree species, Ecosystem structure and functional process, Medicinal botany, Soil biology & fertility, Climate change & carbon mitigation- carbon stock assessment in forest ecosystems. He has published 46 research articles and has contributed 71 presentations in both National and international conference.

Dr. G. Poyyamoli Msc (Marine Biology) Ph.D. (Ecology) ; is Associate Professor, Department of Ecology & Environmental Sciences (Faculty from 1987 onwards) & Coordinator, MSc (sustainable development) Pondicherry University (from 1987 -2011); Member Secretary , Pondicherry university Renewable Energy & Sustainability cell (from 2013 onwards). His areas of specialization includes social ecology, climate change & sustainability- sustainable water/waste management, green campus, agro-ecology & industrial ecology, sustainable Tourism/ Ecotourism, Integrated Coastal Zone Management & Environmental Education for sustainable development. His memberships include -a member of the commission on ecosystem management, IUCN, Switzerland; a member of the State expert appraisal committee, Govt of Puducherry; a member of the expert committee for formulating the curriculum/syllabi of several universities.
