Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) consists of a huge amount of the mobile nodes with wireless communications and computation capabilities. Due to their diverse applications, Adhoc networks are appealing for use in many domains. These networks operate in the license free frequency band and do not require any investment in infrastructure, making them attractive for military and selected commercial applications. Security is a central concern in the MANET. The MANET is vulnerable to various kinds of attacks that breach the network security. In MANET mobile node is responsible for route establishment using wireless link where each node behaves like both as a host and a router. This paper explores and compares the effect of wormhole attacks on the performance of on-demand routing protocols in mobile ad hoc network (MANET). In this paper we proposed a technique to detect wormhole attack based on route discovery and establishment. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existed schemes under different network parameters. Keywords: Mobile adhoc network (MANET), Wormhole Attack, Passive Attacks, Active AttacksCite this Article Dheerendra Singh Kachhwaha, Vikas Sejwar.
