In this work, the performance of EDFA has been analyzed in Conventional band (C- band) based on its three types of application system i.e. pre-amplifier, post-amplifier and inline amplifier system. To check the performance for these three application system, a 4-channel Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) system has been designed using EDFA with optical CWDM fiber. By varying the length and numerical aperture (NA) of EDFA, different factors such as gain, output power has been investigated for the 4 channel CWDM system. The simulation is done using Optisystem 7.0 software. Here forward pumping method is used with 980 nm pumping signal rather than 1480 nm to give more efficient output. Simulation result revealed that the pre amplifier system gives higher gain than the others two systems and the achieved value is 12.735904 dB where the post and inline amplifier gains are respectively found as 7.5988352 dB and 11.893852dB. The maximum output power (18.803 dBm) is obtained for the post amplifier system whereas pre amplifier gives minimum output power (16.565 dBm) and inline amplifier system gives moderate value (17.872 dBm) compared to the other two systems.
