The objective of the this research paper is to predict the stress and strain values of magnesium metal matrix composites using finite element analysis (FEA) and compare with the universal testing machine (UTM) results through the tensile load. The composites were prepared by semi solid stir casting process. Tensile specimens with ASTM B557 standard dimensions were prepared from the composites. These specimens were subjected to uni-axial tension under the 10 t capacity UTM. The specimen’s FEA models were created using ANSYS 16 and the stress strain values were obtained. The actual results were compared with the predicted values obtained from the FEA. It was ensured that the FEA results had well agreement with the original deformation length with in the acceptable error margin.Cite this ArticleTarasasanka C, Ravindra K.
