This paper presents the design of Power System Stabilizer (PSS) based on state predominant concept. An approach based on state predominant PSS with LQR for low frequency oscillation damping, Pole Placement and fuzzy control has been presented. The concept has been tested for both SMIF and multi machine system. The mathematical model of multimachine has been derived and the system has been simulated for various operating point changes, the results show that PSS based on state predominant LQR responds much better under varying operating condition along with acceptable peak overshoot and undershoot than fuzzy logic and pole placement techniques.Publicado
