Abstract

The Indian legal system has experienced a revolution with the enactment of consumer protection act 1986, which was specifically designed to redress the grievances of consumers by establishing consumer redressal machineries at the central, state and district level. They are national consumer disputes redressal commission, state consumer disputes redressal commissions and district consumer disputes redressal forums. The present paper attempts an analytical examination of the state consumer disputes redressal commission of Tamil Nadu and their district forums in redressing the grievances of consumers. The performance of these consumer forums is analyzed in terms of disposal of cases, rate of pendency, and filing of cases with some meaningful suggestions for qualitative and quantitative enhancement in its performance.  Keywords: Consumers, disputes, redressal forums, consumer protection act 1986Cite this Article Anto Auxcelian M, Albin Jerome, Kshtrashal Singh et al.
