Abstract

As an interdisciplinary discipline, feminism seeks to address issues of equality and equity based on gender, gender expression, gender identity, sex and sexuality in line with social theories and political activism. Feminism can be traced to the evolution and practice of inequality between the sexes. However, the issue of women’s struggle for empowerment dates back to the history of feminism. The history of feminism itself is the history of women’s resistance and opposition to patriarchy. It is an ideology in art and life that resists patriarchy and challenges “the female essence”. It is the right that Bayo Adebowale skillfully employs syntactic features to expose women’s struggle, oppression and marginalization in African continent. This paper therefore focuses on the analysis of syntactic features such as sentence types, tenses, modal auxiliary verbs and others. The use of these special syntactic features is to create awareness and aesthetic sensibility and its impact on the readers and how its exhibits negative effects of women’s oppression, struggle and imagination in Africa continent.   Keywords: Feminism, struggle, oppression, equality, genderCite this Article Aminu Segun.
