Traditionally, libraries have been evaluated in terms of input or available resources, such as number of volumes, number of staff members, size of facilities, and so on. More recently, there has been a vigorous movement toward evaluating libraries according to their output of performance. This latter evaluation focuses on what was accomplished with the library’s resources. Many of the performance measures developed thus far have concentrated on such factors as library effectiveness, the library’s impact on the community, and user satisfaction.Cite this ArticleK.
