Hardik Hindocha Piyushkumar, GD Acharya

Abstract

Resistance spot welding is a widely used process of metal joining in industries. In resistance spot welding process, the time of welding is very little so, during welding process maintenance of high accuracy and precision is very difficult. Resistance spot welding has a wide application in automobile industry, household and domestic appliances manufacturing industry and fabrication industry like air craft manufacturing industry. For better output quality of product, save time and resource of industry various process parameters evaluated and optimized. So, design of experiment and artificial neural network method is used to evaluate the optimal conditions. In this paper, both the evaluation techniques are discussed and mention how to use of DOE and ANN for evaluates the optimum process parameters. This is because, the DOE and ANN is a system of interchangeability for the purpose of design, analysis and optimization. Optimization of parameter gives better quality of product. Welding parameter’s limits are determined by using experimental setup of resistance spot welding machine. Welding parameter's effect on objective function is determined by various testing machine, quality checking instruments and validating by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and S/N ratio evaluated by DMAIC and DMADV methods.
