To Explore the Literature on the Effects of Dry Needling on Muscle Spasticity: A Scoping Review

Manisha Uttam

Abstract

Spasticity is a disabling and sensory motor disorder seen in patients with neurological conditions. Recently, muscle spasticity can be treated by various non-pharmacological procedures, among them dry needling (DN) is an emerging technique to decrease the rate of muscle spasticity. In this review, the literature concerning the efficacy of DN on muscle spasticity was reviewed and discussed from databases such as Pubmed, Google scholar and Cochrane library. The existing evidence supports the potential role of DN, thus there is a further research recommended to explore more experimental trials as there is very limited evidence related to it.
