Therapeutic Intervention of Post-traumatic Hemiparesis A Case Report

Manijot Kaur, Narkeesh Arumugam

Abstract

This case report was undertaken to describe the evaluation, management, rehabilitation and education about the post traumatic head injury hemiparesis in a middle-aged woman. The history of traumatic brain injury led to formation of subarachnoid hematoma (SAH) which was treated surgically. The reported onset was sudden with chief complaint of not being able to use her right side of the body, postsurgery. The patient was treated surgically following trauma but subsequently did not undergo physiotherapy management for 6 years. This case is unique in terms that in spite of presence of all the facilities of rehabilitation to the patient not much attention had been given to cognitive rehabilitation because of lack of awareness that led to progressive deterioration in her condition. By presenting this case report, the authors hope a better understanding and necessity of early physiotherapy management along with cognitive and community rehabilitation in hemiplegic cases to return them back to their normal life.
