Effect of a Binary Amino Acid Chromium Complex on the Carbon Metabolism of Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCIM 3558
Abstract
In the present study, the difference in the growth rate of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain NCIM 3558 in the presence of simple binary amino acid chromium complex glutamine chromium is analysed. It is observed for the first time that on complexation of an L-amino acid with trivalent chromium leads to a substantial increase in the rate of utilization of the carbon skeleton of an amino acid viz-a viz the free amino acid which has far reaching consequences regarding glucose metabolism in higher forms of life. The various aspects are discussed in detail.
