Tilahun Rabuma

Abstract

Enthoamoebahistolytica are more prevalent in the poor segment of the population with low income, poor handling of personal  or environmental sanitation, over-crowding the limited access to clean water. The main objective of this study was to investigate the distribution and prevalence of amobiasis in Tepi town.  The secondary data were collected according to age ranges grouped as 0–18, 19–30, and 31–60 years and above 60 years. The percentages of infected peoples in each age group were calculated using MS-Excel and finally the percentage chart was obtained for the year of 2004 and 2004 E.C. The result shows the infection percentage was increased in age ranges between 0–1 year in the year 2004 E.C and also in the age group 60 years and above decreased in the year 2004 E.C, while in the age group 19–30 years increased in 2005 E.C and also decreased in the age group of 60 years and above in 2005 E.C. And also in both years, E. histolytica was highly infected for under 0–18 years children.
