Mathematical Anxiety and Academic Achievement of Secondary School Students

Abstract


The present study aims to assess the relation between mathematical anxiety and mathematical achievement of secondary school students. Survey method was used. A sample of 40 students of age 12–14 was selected from the schools of Noida through simple random-sampling technique. Mathematical anxiety scale by Haiyam Bai, Lihshing, Wei pan and Mary Frey and self-made mathematical achievement test were used to collect the data. It was found that girls are more anxious than boys but achievement is higher than boys and there is no significant relation between mathematical anxiety and mathematical achievement.
