Noise-Removal Techniques for ECG Signals – A Survey Approach

Shivani Sharma, Ravindra Pratap Narwaria

Abstract

Modernization in medical sciences has led to the electrical signals vary according to the variation in the biological activities and abnormalities in the human body. ECG measures and records the electrical activity of the heart. Hence, the signals should be free from undesired signals to accurately analyze the abnormalities in the human body. Different techniques have been applied to make the ECG signal noise free. This paper presents a survey of some of the techniques used for the noise removal of ECG signals like various algorithms of adaptive filtering like RLS, LMS, etc., wavelet transform, FIR and IIR filtering and implementation of neural networks that are proposed by various researchers.
