Biography

Dr. Anil Kumar Sachan is a Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of MNNIT, Allahabad. He received his Ph.D. Degree in 1990 from Kanpur University. Worked as a Lecturer in H. B. T. I. Kanpur from Dec 1984 to April 1991, subsequently became Reader in May 1991 in BIET Jhansi and promoted to the post of Professor in July 1999 and worked up to Jan 2008 in BIET Jhansi, then Joined MNNIT Allahabad as professor in Feb 2008. He is having 30 Years of Experience in the field of Structural Engineering. He is the author of 30 papers, completed 5 projects, organized many refresher courses and national seminars, visited many foreign countries. He is a well-known structural designer for building, bridges and water retaining structures. His Area of Expertise includes use of waste in construction, durability of concrete, use of waste in soil stabilization, structural health monitoring

Dr. Aniruddha Sengupta is a Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago in 1989 and then worked as a senior engineer at Harza Engineering Company at Chicago (now MWH Global) for 10 years before joining IIT Kharagpur. He is having more than 24 years of experience in the field of Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering. His area of expertise includes earthquake engineering, soil-structure interaction, landslide mitigation, embankment design and analysis and unsaturated soil mechanics. He is the author of over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has written a chapter on “Earth Retaining Structures” in “Geotechnical Engineering Handbook” edited by B.M. Das.

Dr. Arun Prasad is Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), India. He graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering in 1986 from Utkal University, India; and obtained MSc and PhD from Sambalpur University and Devi Ahilya University, India in 1989 and 2000 respectively. He has worked as Post-Doctoral Researcher at Universiti Putra Malaysia during 2009-10. He has co-authored three books and co-edited a book in the field of Geotechnical Engineering; and has published more than 60 papers in journals and conference proceedings. His area of research is in the stabilization of soft and contaminated soils.

Dr. Javed Alam is Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Z.H. College of Engineering & Technology, AMU. Aligarh. Dr. Alam did B.Sc. Engineering (1985), M.Sc. Engineering (1987) and Ph. D. (2005) from AMU Aligarh. His research interests focus on water resources, Geotechnical Engineering, Soft Computing and flood control. He is life member of Institution of Engineers (IE.), Indian society of technical education (ISTE), Indian society of water resources (IWRS), Indian society of hydraulics (ISH) and fellow of Indian Association of Hydrologist. He has authored papers in various National, International journals/ Conferences. He has also been involved in a number of consultancy projects.

Dr. D. C. Jhariya is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Geology, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). He joined Department of Applied Geology, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) as a faculty member in 2009. Dr. D.C.Jhariya completed his M.Tech and PhD from the Department of Applied Geology (Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh (Formerly University of Sagar). His expertise extends to the field of Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology Remote Sensing, GIS and their Applications for water resources management. He has about 07 technical papers 04 technical report to his credit. He has guided 03 M.Tech thesis and 02 PhD thesis are in progress under his supervision. He is the Recipients of "Siksha Rattan Award” by Dr. Bhisma Narain Singh Fromer Governor of Tamilnadu and Assam at a Seminar on Economic growth and National Integration organized by India international Friendship Society at New Delhi on 15th April, 2013 for his outstanding contribution in the field of education.

Dr. Malik Shoeb Ahmad is an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering. Department, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh He received his Ph.D. Degree in Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh in 2009 He worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering Aligarh Muslim University for 20 Years. He is having 20 Years of Experience in the field of Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering. His Area of Expertise includes: Pavement Design, Job Mix formula for Flexible Pavements, Foundation Engineering, Fly ash and its utilization. He has published more than 50 papers in Journals and Conferences

Engr. Habib Zaman Memon is a Lecturer, Institute Of Petroleum & N-Gas Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Jamshoro, Pakistan, Pakistan. Engr. Habib U Zaman is a Lecturer in the Institute of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology. Professor R. Gobinath is a Professor in the Jay Shriram Group of Institutions, Department of Civil Engineering at the Anna University. He had published more than 30 research papers in various journals and also served as editorial member of various journals in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is specialized in Environment and Environmental Geo-technology and presently working slope stabilization. He also serves in review board of various journals in the field of Civil Engineering. He is the author of more than 30 publications and also had attended more than 90 conferences in both national and International level.

Dr. Kamalesh Kumar is Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, India. He received his Ph.D.Degree in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, INDIA, in 2002. He has been working as Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, INDIA for more than 6 Years. He is having more than 13 Years of Experience in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. His Area of Expertise is Geotechnical Engineering. He is author of two books. He has research publications in one international journal, two national journals, one international conference outside India, two international conferences within India and six national conferences. He is lifetime member of Phi-Beta-Delta, Honor Society for International scholars.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Agarwal is a Professor in the Department of civil engineering at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Transport System Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 2006. Then worked as a Professor in Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology for 20 Years. He is having 20 Years of Experience in the field of Transportation Engineering. His Area of Expertise includes: Traffic Engineering, Road Safety, Highway Maintenance etc.

Dr. M.E.A. Mondal is a Professor in the Department of Geology at the Aligarh Muslim University. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Geology from Aligarh Muslim University in 1995 and earned his postdoctoral from Physical Research Laboratory (Department of Space), Ahmadabad. He is having 17 Years of Teaching Experience in the field of Geochemistry, Geodynamics, Engineering Geology, Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology. He is particularly interested in understanding the geodynamic evolution of Indian continental lithosphere, viz. Bundelkhand craton, Bastar craton and Aravalli craton through multi-disciplinary approach involving field studies, petrology, geochronology and geochemistry. He has published 55 research papers in peer reviewed journals including Precambrian Research, Gondwana Research, Lithosphere, Tectonophysics, Island Arc, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, Geochemical Journal, Terra Nova, Current Science, Journal of the Geological Society of India and Journal of Earth System Sciences. Total citation of his papers is 180. He has completed 06 research projects and at present carrying out 01 research project sponsored by DST & UGC. His Area of Expertise includes magmatic and tectonic processes of Precambrian crustal evolution, hard rock and clastic rock geochemistry.

Chander Kumar Singh is Assistant Professor in TERI University. Having profound interest in fields like hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, remote sensing and GIS applications in water resource management, he addresses critical issues and concerns of groundwater quality and availability in the water vulnerable regions of India. He has been actively involved in various projects like Defense Terrain Research Laboratory, National Informatics Centre, Dept. of Science and Technology, ISRO. He was awarded Sat Pal Mittal Research Fellowship based on his academic excellence for the year 2006-2010. Chander Kumar Singh has authored several research papers/articles, book chapters and a book in various nationally and internationally renowned peer reviewed journals. He has presented paper in various international conferences and was awarded Young Scientist Award by International Union of Geological Sciences in Euro Conference 2009, Switzerland.

Dr. Rehan Ahmad Khan did his B.Tech (Civil Engg.) and M.Tech (Structures) degrees in Civil Engineering from AMU Aligarh in 1995 and 1997 respectively and Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi in 2003.The topic of Ph.D thesis is Reliability Analysis of Cable Stayed Bridges Under Earthquake Forces. Presently he is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, AMU, Aligarh. He is also, Secretary of ISET (Indian Society of Earthquake Technology) Delhi Chapter . His areas of research interest include Fibre Reinforced Concrete, Reliability Analysis, Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering. The main teaching subjects consists of Structural Analysis, Design of Concrete Structures, Strength of Materials, Higher Numerical Analysis and Earthquake Engineering . He has published more than 40 papers in the reputed Journals and Conferences like International Journal of Engineering Structure, Elsevier Publication International Journal of Vibration and Control, International Journal of Earthquake Engineering & Engineering Vibration etc. He has also been involved in a number of consultancy projects.

Dr. Rini A. Abdullah joined Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) as an academic staff since June 2003. She holds the B Eng (Civil) and M Eng (Geotechnics) from UTM, Malaysia and a Ph D from the University of Leeds, UK. AT the moment, she holds the post of senior lecturer at Department of Geotechnics and Transportation, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM Skudai, Malaysia. As a lecturer, she teaches both under graduate and post graduate level. These include: Civil Engineering Fundamentals, Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Advanced Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. Her main research interest relates to the rock slope instability, specifically in physical numerical predictive modelling, rock mass characterisation and rock failure. Her Ph D thesis entitles, Development of a slope classification system with particular reference to shallow rock slope failure, which covers the multi-disciplinary of rock mechanics and engineering geology. The research ties in closely with the consultation work of Penrhyn quarry with GWP Consultant, UK. She has an extensive knowledge of the use of Universal Discrete Element Code (UDEC); to understand the rock mass behaviour under low and high stress condition.

Dr. Shamsuddin Shahid is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He received his Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2001 and earned his postdoctoral from Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena-Germany. He is having 20 years of teaching and research experiences in the field of environment and water resources. He worked as a Scientist in Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization, Assistant Professor in the University of Rajshahi-Bangladesh, Research Fellow in Asian Institute of Technology-Thailand, Research Fellow in Rhodes University of South Africa and Senior Lecturer in University of Malaysia-Malaysia. His area of expertise includes: Climate Variability and Changes, Hydrological Processes, Environmental Modeling, and Natural Hazard. He is the author of more than 50 research articles and two books. He is the principal investigator of number of research projects including an international project on climate change. He is the life member of European Geosciences Union and member of many other professional bodies. He received number of awards/fellowships including Indian Council for Cultural Relation Fellowship (India), Georg Foster Fellowship (Germany) and Research Award of the Faculty of Civil Engineering (UTM).

Dr. Syed Zaheer Hasan is Scientist-G in the Petroleum Research Wing of Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. He received his Ph. D. degree in Geology from Aligarh Muslim University in 1999. Then worked there as Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Geology under the Young Scientist Scheme of the Department of Science and Technology for three years. Later he served one USA based multinational company providing assistance to hydrocarbon exploration and production industries prior to joining his present concern. He is having versatile field and laboratory experience in the areas of hydrocarbon reservoir production potential evaluation and techniques to increment the recovery; well cementing and stimulation techniques; qualitative and quantitative evaluation of groundwater resources; water borne diseases; agricultural growth versus water availability; environmental impact assessment; alternate source of groundwater recharge; developing synthetic combustion fuel and many more. He is having number of publications to his credit besides, fellow and member of various national and international scientific societies, chief editor, member editorial boards and reviewer of various science magazines.

Prof. Ali M. Gharavimajdi did his Phd in Civil Engineering (dams) from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran and M. sc. in Civil Engineering (earthquake) from Ferdowsi University Of Mashhad, Iran. His area of interest are dams: all design and stability control aspects related to foundation and body of RCC, embankment and rock fill dams, foundation and abutments of gravity and Arch concrete dams, strength and deformation properties, permeability and seepage control measures, slopes: rock slopes and structures, waste disposal and land fill design, geo-environment,soil pollution and remediation technology and environmental impact assessment study of hydropower and dames. He reviewed various international review expert panals, he is also a member of various societies. He published various national and international papers with farsi/ persian language; as well as in conferences.

Dr. Shriram P. Marathe is the Assistant Professor at N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Visvesvaraya Technological University. He is pursuing his Ph.D. Degree from VTU (Belgaum University) and earned his M.Tech from the NITK Surathkal. He is having 4 Years of Experience in the field of teaching. His Area of Expertise includes: Transportation Engineering , Geotechnical Engineering , Civil Engineering, Concrete Pavements. Ranjan Kumar is a Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering at the Gautam Budh Technical University. He earned his (M.Tech) in Civil Engineering with specialistaion in Environmental Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Then worked as a Assistant Professor in IILM Greater Noida. He is having 5.3 Years of Experience in the field of teaching. His Area of Expertise includes: Solid waste, water, air, EIA, Waste Management etc. He is the author of “Understanding the effect of acid rain on physico-chemical and engineering properties of black cotton soil” and “Enhanced production and characterization of biosrfactant produced by newly isolated Bacillus amyloliquefaciens USTBb using response surface methodology” etc.

Prof. Saad Issa Sarsam got his BSc. in Civil Engineering (1977), Post graduate diploma in Transportation Engineering (1978); MSc in Transportation Engineering (1980). He worked as senior material Engineer for NCCL (1982-1992); He joined the academic staff at University of Mosul (1992-2005) and got the Assistant Professor degree at (2002); He joined the academic staff at University of Baghdad (2005 until now) and got the Professor degree at (2007). He has published more than 150 research paper in International and National journals. He has more than 25 Conferences Participation (With Paper Presentation) in various International platforms. He has received more than 50 prestigious awards by different organizations. He worked as Scientific reviewer in more than 50 Cosultation. He is editorial board member in various peer reviewed journals. Areas of specialization and interest: (Roller compacted concrete; modified asphalt concrete; Asphalt stabilized embankment models; Road user characteristics).

Dr. Manoj Khandelwal is a Professor in the School of Engineering and Information Technology Faculty of Science and Technology Federation University. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Rock Engg. from IIT Bombay and earned his postdoctoral from Monash University, Australia. Then worked as a Lecturer in Federation University Australia 3Years. He 11 Years of Experience in the field of teaching.
