Biography

Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Associate Professor and former Head, Dept. of Marine Science, University of Calcutta (INDIA) has been active in the sphere of Oceanography since 1985. He obtained his Ph.D as NET qualified scholar in 1994. Since then he joined Calcutta Port Trust and WWF (World Wide Fund), in various capacities to carry out research programmes on environmental science, biodiversity conservation, climate change and carbon sequestration. Presently Dr. Mitra is serving as the advisor of Oceanography Division of Techno India University, Kolkata. He has to his credit about 272 scientific publications in various National and International journals, and 26 books of postgraduate standards. Dr. Mitra is presently the member of several committees like PACON International, IUCN, SIOS, Mangrove Society of India etc. and has successfully completed about 16 projects on biodiversity loss in fishery sector, coastal pollution, alternative livelihood, climate change and carbon sequestration. Dr. Mitra also visited as faculty member and invited speakers in several foreign Universities of Singapore, Kenya, Oman and USA. In 2008 Dr. Mitra was invited as visiting fellow at University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, USA to deliver a series of lecture on Climate Change. Dr. Mitra also successfully guided 21 Ph.D students. Presently his research areas include environmental science, mangrove ecology, sustainable aquaculture, alternative livelihood, climate change and carbon sequestration.

Dr. Umesh Kulshrestha is a Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He received his Doctorate degree from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra in 1994 and earned his postdoctoral experience at Stockholm University, Sweden and National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. In 1998, he joined CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad as a scientist where he continued till 2008. He is having 20 years of Experience in the field of Aerosol Chemistry and Climate Change. His Area of Expertise includes Aerosol and precipitation chemistry relevant to climate change, Air pollution chemistry and transport, Atmospheric depositions and biogeochemical cycle, Toxic metals in air and their possible health effects, Land-atmosphere interaction chemistry, Chemical analysis and method development for different types of samples, Greenhouse gases and climate change, Bioaerosols Carbonaceous aerosols. Prof. Kulshrestha is a recipient of START Young Scientist Award by IGBP-START, USA, Thomas Kuhn Honor Pin by IUAPPA and International Academy of Sciences, CSIR Young Scientist Award, and M S Krishnan Gold Medal by Indian Geophysical Union (IGU). Also, he is a Fellow of IGU. He has published a number of papers which have been widely cited. He has been associated with various international and national programs on atmospheric science including INDOEX, ABC, IGAC-DEBITS-CAD, CAAP, Surya and ICARB etc.

Mr. Himanshu H. Choksi is a Faculty in the Chemical Engineering Department of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He received his Master Degree in Chemical Engineering (Polymer Technology) from M.S. University of Baroda in 2005 and his Ph.D. is continuing from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. Then he worked as a Senior Lecturer in V.V.P. Engineering College for 15 Years. Right now he is serving as a Faculty in Chemical Engineering Department of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University since last two years. He is also having two years industrial experience. He also has worked as a Faculty with renowned Reliance Industries Limited in their “Extended Learning In-House Training Program” at Jamnagar, Gujarat. He is having total 19 Years of Experience in the field of Chemical Engineering. His Area of Expertise includes Biodiesel production techniques, Heat transfer, and Polymer synthesis.

Dr. Lakhwinder S. Hundal is a Supervising Environmental Soil Scientist in the Monitoring and Research Department of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) in Illinois. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Environmental Soil Science from University of Nebraska in 1997 and earned his postdoctoral from Iowa State University. Then worked as an Adjunct Professor at University of Notre Dame for two years and joined MWRD in 2002. He has over 17 years of experience in the field of Environmental Sciences and his area of expertise includes: land application of biosolids, environmental sustainability, and fate and behavior of endocrine disrupting contaminants in the soil and water environments. He is a recipient of several prestigious awards has authored over 100 peer reviewed manuscripts, reports, and book chapters.

Dr. Ala’a H. Al-Muhtaseb is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering. Department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering at the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Queens’s University Belfast/UK in 2004. Muhtaseb has worked as an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University/Jordan for 7 years. He is having 10 years of experience in the field of waste water treatment. His Area of expertise includes: Waste water treatment, Biofuel production, Catalysis. He is the author of 55 published papers in peer reviewed journals, several conference papers and recipient of many grants.

Dr. R. Bhutiani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Science at Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar. He received his Ph.D.Degree in Environmental Science from Gurukula Kangri University in 2004. He is a well known limnologist and is area of expertise is Limnology, ecological modeling, aquatic biology, environmental microbiology. He has 11 years of teaching and 14 years of research experience. Dr. Bhutiani has written /edited about 20 books. He is also working as an editor of Environment conservation Journal. Dr. Bhutiani has published about 60 research papers and five articles in National and International Journal of Repute. He is a member of nine academic societies and was awarded two Junior Young scientist awards, Award of appreciation, Award of excellence, Bharat Excellence award and Best teacher award.

Dr. Pravin U. Singare completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (1994), Masters Degree in Inorganic Chemistry (1997) and Ph.D. (Chemistry) from University of Mumbai (1999). He is having 10 years of Industrial experience in Process Development and Research related to synthesis, recycling of industrial grade homogeneous catalysts and concentration of multimetal sulfide ore by froth flotation technique and subsequent analysis by various instrumental methods. He joined Bhavan’s college as a Lecturer in Department of Chemistry in February, 2004, and at present working as an Assistant Professor in Physical & Analytical Chemistry. He is approved research guide of University of Mumbai, JJT University and Pacific University Rajasthan, for M.Sc. (By Research) and Ph.D. He guided 15 students for M.Phil. Degrees in Chemistry from Madurai Kamraj and Allagappa University and 03 Ph.D students from JJT University, Rajasthan. He is having 187 research papers in various referred National and International Chemical Journals. His research areas of interest are synthesis and regeneration of Homogeneous catalyst, Radio analytical applications, Nuclear Chemistry, Ion exchange techniques, Polymer degradation studies, Environmental analysis, Trace elemental analysis in medicinal plants and Hydrometallurgy.

Dr. Victor Mazur is a Professor in the Thermodynamics and Renewable Energy Department at the National Academy of Food Technologies, Odessa, Ukraine. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Thermophysics and Molecular Physics from Odessa Institute of Refrigeration in 1974 and earned his Doctor of Science Degree from the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology in 1988. Then he was working as a Professor. in Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration for 35 Years. He is having 40 Years of Experience in the field of Thermodynamics and Refrigeration his Area of Expertise includes: Ozone Safe Refrigerants, Phase Equilibria, Fuzzy Thermoeconomics, Nanofluids, Sustainable Development He is the author of >160 peer reviewed papers, recipient NATO, ESF, The Netherlands Technological Foundation, Sweden Institute Grants, awards etc.

Adel Mellit, received his degree in electronic engineering (Hons) from Blida university in 1998, and the MSc and PhD degrees in Electronics (Option: Renewable energy) from the university of sciences technologies (USTHB), Algiers in 2001 and 2006 respectively. He received his HDR degree in electronics from the National Polytechnic School (ENPS), Algiers, in 2008. Research interests of Dr. Adel Mellit focus on the application of the artificial intelligence techniques in renewable energy systems, the integration of intelligent digital controllers on FPGA and meteorological parameters prediction. He has authored and co-authored more than 60 technical papers in the international journal and conferences as well as 4 book chapters. He has reviewed more than 50 technical papers in different journals and proceedings. To date he has received more than 157 citations (Scopus) of his work and his H-factor is 9. He is an associate member at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (AS-ICTP) Italy, he is also, associate editor of Energy journal (Elsevier, Ltd) and editorial board member of the international journal of energy optimization and engineering. Currently He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Jijel University, Algeria.

Nour T. Abdel-Ghani Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt.

Dr. Kakoli Banerjee, M.Sc. (Marine Science, University of Calcutta); Ph.D (Jadavpur University) She is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources at Central University of Orissa from 4th Jan, 2012. Her area of specialization is biodiversity conservation with special reference to coastal ecosystem, climate change and carbon sequestration, coastal pollution and coastal zone management. Prior to joining she has served WWF-India from 2003-2007 as Project Officer. She was a recipient of DST, GOI Women Scientist Award, in the year 2007. She has also served as RA-III in MoES and DST, Govt. of India respectively. She has about 12 years of research and 5 years of teaching experience as Guest Faculty in 5 Universities. She has guided 5 M.Phil students. She is credited to have 88 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored 12 books of post-graduate level.

Dr. Anumakonda Jagadeesh obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Physics from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, and his Doctorate degree in Wind Energy from the prestigious University of Roorkee {now the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR)}. He has been involved in teaching and research for the last 30 years. He founded "Society of Science for the People" in 1973, an NGO which has been acting to formulate innovative science and technology programs and projects. Dr. Jagadeesh widely interacted with several global and national organizations in Science and Technology projects; his programs attracted worldwide attention, especially in Appropriate Technology, Afforestation, Renewable Energy, Environment, etc. Dr. Jagadeesh also founded "Nayudamma Centre for Development Alternatives" in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1994 which has been acting as a think tank in promoting Energy, Environment, and Appropriate Technology programs and projects. He has membership in several international and government bodies in India. The groups relate to supply chains & Entrepreneurship and energy & agriculture. Dr.Jagadeesh is also Vice Chancellor (Scientific Communications), Australian Institute of High Energetic materials, Clayton, Victoria, Australia. Dr. Jagadeesh's pioneering work won him several international and national awards including the prestigious "Margaret Noble Foundation, Seattle" Award for Research in Energy.
