Biography

Dr. Khaiser Nikam is a Professor in the Library and Information Science Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Mysore. She/he received his/her Ph.D. Degree in Library and Information Science from University of Mysore in 2001.Then worked as a professor at the Department of Library and Information Science , University of Mysore. She has a total of 35 years of post graduate teaching experience at University from 1980 to date. She is the co-author of 6 books and has completed UGC funded major project on evaluating the use of e resources by the academia of university of Mysore. Her Area of Expertise includes: User Studies; Corporate libraries and Management of libraries

Dr. Akhandanand Shukla is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science at Mizoram University, Aizawl since July, 2010. He received his Ph. D. Degree in Library & Information Science from Banaras Hindu University in 2009. He is having 10 years of experience in the field of Library & Information Science. He is an author of about 20 research/policy papers in various conferences & journals at national & international level and recipient of number of awards at various co-curricular activities. His Area of expertise includes: Webometrics, Digital Library, Information Technology, Knowledge Organisation, and Website Designing

Mr. Imran Khan is presently working as Librarian, Zakir Husain Delhi College (University of Delhi), New Delhi. He has completed his Ph.D. Degree in Library & Information Science from Singhania University, Rajasthan. He earned M.Phil. in Library & Information Science from Madurai Kamaraj University and Master of Human Resource Management Degree from Annamalai University. He is having more than 7 Years of Experience in the field of Administration and more than 11 Years of Experience in the field of Library & Information Science. His Area of Expertise includes: Administration, Management, Library Automation & Networking, Library Management, Digitization, Application of ICT in Library, e-Resources, Social Networks, Social Media, Mobile Applications in Academic Libraries, etc.

Dr. Mehtab Alam Ansari is having more than fifteen years of professional experience has B.Sc., M.A., MLISc. M. Phil. & Two Ph.D. degrees, and presently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Library & Information Science, AMU. Dr. Alam has authored one book, co-edited two books and has also contributed several papers and articles in various national and international journals, books and magazines. He has supervised three doctoral theses, two M.Phil dissertations and forty MLISc dissertations besides participating and presenting papers in the conferences. Previously worked as an Assistant Librarian in Dr. Zakir Husain Library, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Dr. Mehtab has also been associated with internationally reputed companies such as VTLS, Soft link and Libsys in different capacities. As an employee of VTLS, Dr. Mehtab has also received advanced level training on Virtua software at Blacksburg, USA. His area of interest includes Library Automation, Digital Library, and Application of ICT in Libraries.

Mr. Nadim Akhtar Khan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kashmir. He is a Gold Medalist and has qualified NET. He has also done PGDCA from University of Kashmir and HDSE from APTECH Computers. He is having 8 Years of teaching experience in the field of Library and Information Science. He is having several national as well as International publications in peer reviewed Journals and is also part time Academic Counselor at Indira Gandhi National Open University in the field of Library and Information Science. He has bagged awards in ICD L 2010 and ICDL 2013 for his research works. His areas of expertise includes: Information Technology, Digital Libraries & Database Management Systems, Open Source Software Systems, Metadata Harvesting, Crosswalks and interoperability etc. He is currently pursuing research on Open Educational Resources. He has been resource person for various workshops on institutional repository management using open source software.

Dr. Neelam Thapa is an engineering graduate with B.E. in Computer Science from Bangalore University. She earned her B.Lib.Sc, M.Lib.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Dr. H.S. Gour University, Sagar. She stood first in the order of merit in both B.Lib.I.Sc. and M.Lib.I.Sc. She has been involved in teaching Library Science as well as Computer Science as adhoc/guest faculty for many years. She was awarded Fellowship by UGC for Post Doctoral Research in 2012. She is life member of ILA, IASLIC, and SIS and is also member of SLA (Asian Chapter). She also has many articles to her credit in reputed scholarly journals and a book on library automation titled “Slices of Library Automation”.

Dr. Rajani Mishra is a Professor in the Library & Information Science Department of Library & Information Science at the Banaras Hindu University. She received her Ph.D. Degree in Library & Information Science from Banaras Hindu University in 2001. Then worked as a librarian in Kendriya Vidalaya Institute/University for 8 Years. She is having 12 Years of Experience in the field of Knowledge Organization. She is the author of 10 articles, 2 book chapters etc., recipient of any Grants, awards etc. Nehru Memorial Award from Trimurthi foundation, New Delhi. Her Area of Expertise includes: Knowledge Organization & Information Retrieval.

Dr. R Guruprasad received his Ph.D. from the University of Mysore. He is an Information Scientist in the Knowledge and Technology Management Division, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore. He has two international books to his credit, several national and international journal publications, Book Chapters and Conference Presentations. His expertise and passion extends into the domain of ‘Digital Content Management’ and ‘Digital Video Archiving’ with specific emphasis to CSIR-NAL’s Civil Aircraft development initiatives. His planning and execution of providing ‘real-time digital videography’ to the SARAS prototype aircraft flying activity is remarkable. He is the author of two international books in the area of Information Science, has several international and national publications, contributed to Book Chapters, a larger number of presentations in international conferences and is in the Editorial Board of several Information Science / Information Technology journals. He has received three national scientific recognitions, namely: Special Mention Certificate – Research, Scientist of the Year’ by National Environmental Science Academy, Award for Excellence in Technology Research, Technology Leadership Awards.

Mrs. Rosy Jan is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science at University of Kashmir since 8 years. She has many national and international publications to her credit and has reviewed two books. She has attended national and international seminars and conference and has begged Best poster award in Third International Conference on Digital Libraries(ICDL-2010) organized by TERI at Indian Habitat Center New Delhi for her work “Harvesting Capabilities of Google Scholar: A Comparative Study of three Major Journal Lists-DOAJ, Highwire and Biomedcentral". Her Area of expertise includes: Scientometrics, Information Seeking, Oriental libraries, Library classification and Open access.

Dr. Rupak Chakravarty is serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India for more than six years. Specialization areas include: Application of ICT in libraries including library automation, Free Open Source Software (FOSS), digital library, digital reference service, library portal development. Other areas of specialization include: Management of Library & Information Centres, Information & Communication, Dewey Decimal Classification, Information Sources, Open Access, Institutional Repositories (IRs), Web 2.0, Library 2.0. Also serving as Mendeley Advisor at Chandigarh region. Also served as Assistant Librarian, Panjab University Library for more than five years as the Reference Librarian and at Periodicals Section. He is having 30 publications in many peer-reviewed journals, including International Journals like IFLA journal, conferences both national as-well-as International. Also served/serving as reviewer in many national and international journals. Resources person in many training programmes, refresher courses.

Dr. Shalini R. Lihitkar has been in LIS Profession Since 2002, Gold Medallist from Nagpur University. She has experience of teaching and guiding for UGC-NET/SET, P.O. and other competitive examinations. She has 12 years teaching experience in LIS field. She has published several papers in seminars, conferences and journals at national and international level and has more than 150 papers to her credit. Edited 16 proceedings of conferences and workshops. Complied course materials of workshops and refresher courses in LISc. She is author of four books. She has completed Information Literacy Project with UNESCO and SALIS as a member. She is an expert member in Definitional Glossary of LISc, project of Ministry of Scientific and Technical Terminology, Government of India. She has been invited as a resource person in orientation courses and refresher courses at various universities. She is a research supervisor of R.T.M,Nagpur University, Nagpur and S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati. She has presented papers at International conferences at Malaysia, Pitsanulok, Muscut and HongKong. She is a life member of professional associations’ viz. DLA, ILA, IATLIS, DLISAA, SALIS, CGLA and VLA.

Dr. K. G. Pillai Sudhier earned his PhD in Library & Information science (Informetrics) from the University of Kerala in 2006. He earned his M Sc (Physics) from AMU, Aligarh in 1992 and MLISc from the University of Kerala in the year 1995. Then he worked as a Librarian in the various teaching and research departments of the Kerala University for several years and Assistant Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science. He is having 18 Years of Experience in the field of LIS profession. He served as Academic Counselor of the IGNOU for the BLISc and MLISc programmes and Resource Person of UGC-Academic Staff Colleges. He is a Research Guide of the University of Kerala and the M. S. University, Tirunelveli since 2008. Dr. Sudhier has made substantial contributions in the areas of Scientometrics, Bibliometric laws, Citation Analysis and Institutional Productivity. So far, he has published more than 25 research papers in refereed journals, including ALIS- NISCAIR, DESIDOC-JLIT, SRELS- JIM, COLLNET- JSIM, IJIDT, ILA Bull. and IASLIC Bull. In addition that 50 papers were published/ presented in the seminar and conferences, as book chapters and popular articles and edited one book. Based on the Scopus database, his h- index is 4. He is a Life Member of almost all the LIS Professional and Academic associations in India.

Dr. Swapna Banerjee is the Associate Professor in the Department of Library & Information science at the University of Calcutta. Prior to this, she served in the Indian Museum and Vivekananda College respectively. She has a Masters and Ph. D. degree in Library & Information Science, from University of Calcutta. She has a considerable number of publications to her credit. She has authored eight books both in English and Bengali. She is having 21 years of Experience in the field of Library and Information Science. She has contributed over sixty articles in National and International journals and has also reviewed a number of books in many journals like IASLIC Bulletin. She has attended a number of national and international conferences too. She was nominated for the International Visitor Leadership Programme, funded by the United States, Department of State. Her Area of expertise includes: Preservation and Conservation of Library Materials.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Abd Manaf is a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia since 1999. Prior to joining UiTM she was the Librarian at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) as a librarian from 1989 until 1999. Her areas of specialisation include Information Storage & Retrieval and Resource Description & Discovery. Her research interests encompass a broad area involving Bibliometric, Organisation of Information, Digitisation of Cultural Heritage Information, Preservation of Digital Cultural Heritage Information dan Security and Risk Management for Digital Resources. She obtained her doctoral degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2008 with her PhD thesis entitled ‘Exploring the Current State of Digitisation and Factors Contributing to the Establishment of a National Digital Cultural Heritage Repository (NDCHR) in Malaysia’. She has presented papers in local and international conferences, also written books and articles in international journal.

Dr. Gayas Makhdumi is the University Librarian and Head, DLIS, and Director Digitization Initiatives at the Jamia Millia Islamia University. He has a First class Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from AMU and Mphil. From DU. He has received his PhD. In Library and Information Sciences from the University of London in 1992. Dr. Makhdumi has working experience of managing libraries in ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company); as Senior Librarian (Specialist services) in Gloucestershire Country Council, England; and University Librarian in G.J University, Hisar. At Jamia, Dr. Makhdumi has been instrumental in fully automating the library; digitizing its rare collections, manuscripts; continuing education programmes and a new library building. He has organized many conferences including CALIBER and IASLIC . , Dr. Makhdumi is a recipient of Commonwealth Scholarships for doctorate at the University of London, and Gilchrist Educational Trust and the Leche Trust Grants.

Dr. Muzamil Mushtaq is a Faculty in the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Aligarh Muslim University. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Library and Information Science from Aligarh Muslim University in 2013. Then worked as a Guest Faculty in Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University for 03 Years. He is having 06 Years of Experience in the field of Bibliometrics/Scientometrics. His Areas of Expertise includes: Scientometrics, Database Searching, Digital Libraries, Open Content, Automation/Digitisation, Research Assessment Indicators, Knowledge Management.

Bhojaraju Gunjal lives in Rourkela and serves as Head, Central Library (Deputy Librarian) at National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Odisha, India. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Librarian at Thapar University, Patiala, Punjab and Knowledge Management (KM) Consultant at TATA Consultancy Services (TCS), Bangalore. He has over 15 years of professional experience in Library Management, Knowledge management, Enterprise Content Management and Project Management in both academic and IT Sectors using ECM tools such as SharePoint, Documentum and InQuira. Has strong understanding of business processes, integration strategies and techno-functional expertise in different industrial areas. Awarded Ph.D in Library and Information Science on the topic “Knowledge Organisation Systems in Digital Libraries: A Case of ETDs” from University of Mysore, Mysore, India. Also recipient of as Endeavour Research Fellow-2008 to visit Australia as part of research study at School of Computer science and Mathematics, Victoria University,Melbourne. Investigation made on KOS aspects such as ontology, taxonomy, concept maps, metadata, information visualization, user experience, search strategy and others w.r.t Digital Libraries and Electronic Theses and Dissertations. He has published and presented technical papers in the field of Knowledge Management, Library and Information Science in both national and international conferences, books, journals and also attended various professional training programs.

Dr. Bidyarthi Dutta is currently working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Library and Information Science, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal. He worked as Assistant Librarian at Sammilani Mahavidyalaya (University of Calcutta) since 2002 and as Librarian at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata since 2004. He is an Honorary Teacher at Bengal Library Association, Kolkata (Estd. 1925) since 2007. He received Master’s Degree in Physics from University of Kalyani in 1995, Associateship in Information Science from National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (NISCAIR, Erstwhile INSDOC), an autonomous organization under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 2001 and Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from IGNOU in 2002. He received Doctoral Degree (PhD) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2008. He completed one research project on preservation and digitization of rare documents of St. Xavier College, Kolkata funded by UNESCO during 2006-‘08. At present, he is acting as Principal Investigator of an UGC-sponsored innovative research project entitled “Development of multi-faceted information retrieval tool for some emerging trans-disciplinary subject domains”. Dr. Dutta has authored nearly fifty articles in several peer-reviewed journals and presented papers in several national and international seminars, conferences and workshops.

Mohammad Ismail Born 1969 in a small village, Toda, located in the suburbs of Peshawar, the capital city of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, (formerly North West Frontier Province) of Pakistan. Received primary and secondary education in Government Primary School Toda and Government High School, Nahaqi, Peshawar respectively. Did Intermediate and BA from Government College Peshawar. Took admission in MA Library & Information Science in the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Peshawar. In 1994 passed MA LIS with distinction and won the university gold medal. Started my carrier as Librarian in 1994 in the Directorate of Archives and Libraries Peshawar. Worked there for six years. Did MA History as a private student from the University of Peshawar in 1996. Joined the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Peshawar in 2000 as Lecturer. Promoted as Assistant Professor in March 2009. Worked as Chairman/HoD of the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Peshawar from 2011 to 2014. Did M.Phil in 2005 from the Area Study Center (China, Russia and Central Asia), University of Peshawar, with specialization in Library & Information Science. Also doing my Ph. D (thesis recently submitted) from the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Sindh, Pakistan, which, hopefully, will be completed in the next few months. Presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Publications: Two books (editor) plus 14 publications published in journals of national repute.
